OK, you got me. It’s not really a book review, because The Iron Wall isn’t a book. It’s a short article, really more of a blog post. In due course, I will be doing real book reviews בלי נדר, but before I have enough time to do that, I need to get enough paid subscribers to justify decreasing some of my other work commitments. That’s a hint by the way.
The Iron Wall is one of the the more important blog posts of Jewish history, though, and, after having referred to it in last week’s ill-considered screed, it occurred to me that it really requires extended treatment.
The cartel of hostile nationalisms
This review is going to be mostly critical, so I will start off with something nice. Jabotinsky was a civilized man and doesn’t bore you with tedious cope about how Palestinians are fakers, who just showed up from <insert place> a few decades ago, and have no genuine connection to the land. The problem is he does the exact opposite, and accepts as a given fact a completely uncritical version of Arab nationalism. The relevant section is as follows:
